STS 135 : the obstacle course to be accredited to NASA
Obtain permission to enter to the press-site of Kennedy Space Center (KSC), the nearest place to see the shuttle take off, is part of an obstacle course. After having obtained with penaltys a VISA type I (media) of the Embassy in Bern in April (including a meeting with the consul), I had to conduct negotiations with the control services at NASA. First, be aware that the KSC has built a new center badges (KSC Badging Office), the first passage for all NASA employees and journalists. First card also obtained by presenting his passport and VISA. Problem of my name and confusion with me with my middle name "Jean" written on the passport, but no VISA. Well, my really name is Roland and not « Roland Jean ». A second passage in another house is mandatory for the second card of the flight which you want to attend. Again problem. NASA failed to learn who I work for now, in this case Swiss Engineering-RTS. After half an hour of searching, the national administration has finally managed to find my old passages in Top-News.ch and it’s finally that time I could get official accreditation to qualify for work in the press center of the STS 135. Whew ! I was recognized, after thirty years of loyal service on behalf of the Space Shuttle.
